1.- Communication of projects

The project or collaboration proposal can be received through either of these processes:

  1. by send it to the Foundation’s email address of through other communication channels with the Foundation that might be available or
  2.  through a direct proposal made by one of the company’s employees, thus fostering employees’ involvement with the Foundations activities.

Such proposals can be sent by third parties as well as by employees of the Parques Reunidos Group.

Notwithstanding the above and in any case, whomever the proposals come from and regardless what channel they are sent through, all requests will have to be assembled through the same channel for evaluation through the email address fundacionparquesreunidos@grpr.com

All emails forwarded regarding any project proposal must include all necessary details for a proper initial evaluation. In any case, these details will have to include the general details about the foundation or organization presenting the request to collaborate (registration information, foundation protectorate or authority, articles of association), foundational ends, examples of three projects successfully carried out by the same organization and a brief explanation of why the Foundation should collaborate with said organization.

2.- Project selection principles

Selection of projects and actions to be supported or financed by the Foundation will be executed according to the following criteria and principles:

  1. The project or action must adhere to the scopes of actions and the foundational objectives of the Foundation and to the strategy defined by the Action Plan presented annually to the Foundation Authority.
  2. Projects would be prioritized if they have a special strategic value and particularly benefit the accomplishment of the foundational objectives and the objectives established by Administrations and competent public entities related to the environment and the protection of biodiversity and of threatened species (EAZA, WAZA, in situ and ex situ conservation programs, EPP programs y others), as well as by the applicable legislation regarding zoological institutions.
  3.  Project or collaboration would also be prioritized if they are presented in the geographical sphere where the Foundation develops its main activities with the same objective as the previous paragraph. This notwithstanding, in the event of special circumstances or due to the uniqueness and importance of the project, projects posed outside of the Foundation’s geographical scope could also be approved. If such type of project is not included in a collaboration mentioned in the previous point would have to be approved by the Board of Trustees during an extraordinary meeting.
  4. As far as possible and considering the difficulty in evaluating proposals, the Foundation should prioritize the most pressing needs, non-profits with the lest mean, the most disadvantaged groups, or species and habitats facing at greater risk.
  5. During project and collaboration selection the Foundation should act with absolute respect to criteria of impartiality and non-discrimination in determining beneficiaries.
  6. The Foundation will not accept projects and collaboration proposals coming from organizations that could belong or be directly or indirectly controlled by members of the Board of Trustees, by Parques Reunidos governing bodies or its Board of Directors, or by spouses, spouse equivalents or relatives to the fourth degree included, when these projects entail a financial disbursement for the Foundation.
  7. Collaboration agreements and projects must always be recorded in writing through a contract in the shape prepared by the Legal Counsel Department por the Foundation and which contain the corresponding securities and safeguard clauses that would be considered convenient and necessary by Parques Reunidos Group’s Legal Counsel Department in each case.
  8. As far as possible, the transparency and good practice of the Foundation or non-profit organization that would eventually be the beneficiary of the project or collaboration should be verified through public registries and other media accessible to the public. Also, as far as possible and to guarantee the impartiality and Independence of the Foundation, no projects or collaborations will be executed if they entail an expenditure or any other material remuneration with foundations related to political parties or with a noticeable political or religious character.
  9. The choice of projects or collaborations must fulfill the entirety of the present principles without allowing any preferential treatment, with the only exceptions being those mentioned in paragraph 2.

3.- Project Approval

Project approval will be executed by the Board of Trustees during an extraordinary meeting or ordinary, or by a committee assigned by the Board (such committee would be formed by people with enough power and always by one of the trustees and by the secretary of the Board). Once assigned, said committee would have an annual validity, being thus subject to annual renewal.
