FarmAventura

The “FarmAventura” project is a product of a collaboration between the Gregorio Marañón Hospital Foundation for Biomedical Research, the Pharmaceutical Services Area at said hospital and the Parques Reunidos Foundation, operating through the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid and Faunia. The collaboration seeks to promote psycho-physical wellbeing of pediatric patients, most of which are under oncological treatment for heart diseases.

The objective of the “FarmAventura” program is to incentivize and motivate medication intake through games and educational creative materials from the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid an Faunia, as well as through visits to both parks where kids can meet their favorite animals.

In 2018 a total of 48 patients of an average age of 3.5 years old and affected by 20 different conditions participated in the program. 65 children have entered “FarmAventura” since it was established, of which 17 have already finished their treatment.

In 2017, participants achieved 95% adherence rates to their treatments, as opposed to a previous rate of less than the advised 80% adherence rate in 26% of patients.
